Spring cleaning

It’s spring, are you ready for it?

Now is a great time to prepare for the seasonal growth that is on it’s way. Get ahead of all those weeds by removing them before they start to flower and re-seed. Cut English Ivy at it’s base, where it starts to climb the trees and you will have a healthier stronger tree that is less susceptible to wind damage. Removing English Ivy altogether is the best option if possible.

It’s a good idea to make sure that your trees and shrubs are pruned properly and disease free. There is no easy way to describe how to do this in 100 words or less as each specimen needs to be cared for differently. We have linked some resources on the website and recommend Cass Turnbull’s Guide to Pruning. Cass Turnbull is the founder of Plant Amnesty.

Keeping the area clean and tidy also alerts any potential burglars that this is not the place for their business. Making sure that the area around your home has good visibility and that there is nothing to act as a temptation for burglary is a great first step to preventing crime. Knowing that residents are out and about on a regular basis will help prevent vandals from targeting that area.
