Prior to being an entry garden, this space was a parking area for close to 50 years. The ground was highly compacted with repeated applications of gravel. Not enough to stop the weeds though.

A dramatic transformation of parking lot to garden complements the house and even changes the temperature and humidity of the front walk. Hot, dry, and dusty has become cooler, more comfortably humid and lush.
